Who I am
Healing relationships. This is the thread woven throughout my personal and professional life. My professional life started in the Caribbean. I spent 5 years in the Dominican Republic fostering meaningful relationships with students as a school counselor and student life director. I returned to the states, working for Young Life, empowering adults to cultivate mentoring relationships with young people in Spokane, Washington.
I transitioned back to counseling in 2020. My training focused on cultivating healing relationships with young people and empowering families to do the same. I take a relational and developmental approach to therapy, which means I enter into the world of my clients, using language and methods that make sense to them. Play is the language of children, it’s how they connect and learn best. I continue to pursue training in Child Centered Play Therapy, TraumaPlay, and other attachment-focused interventions.
I believe healthy relationships cure. Not just in therapy, but anywhere. Personally, my greatest hope is to cultivate meaningful relationships with my family. I am husband and partner to Alicia, a life-long educator currently working as a preschool director. I am father to two powerful, playful, and passionate young women. You can find us playing board games after dinner, pretending to be dragons, getting our hands dirty in the garden, making fairy houses, eating pizza every Friday with our friends, or road tripping across the northwest with this same pizza night crew.
